And I thought I was being so careful... Any tips on how to get them up without resanding. Tried white spirit and very fine sandpaper but no luck. Help before DH spots it

scrape gently with a razor blade?

You should be able to sand them away with fine sandpaper.. you will take the varnish off on those spots but you can always apply another coat.

Thanks
I had hoped, as with most things, there would be a magic formula - Harry Potter wand only seems to work for DS for some reason!

More elbow grease with the sand-paper then as I don't think we have any non-attached, ifyswim, razor blades in the house. Or would my lady-bic work? DH would really think I lost it if he came home to find me shaving the floor.

stanley blades are good. have you a knife you could dismantle?

muffle · 22/05/2009 10:04

A sharp kitchen knife (being very careful) might do it - the other thing that ofen works for things like this is nail polish remover. You might take off a bit of the varnish as well though.

Washing up liquid and the scourer side of a washing up sponge. Seriously.

Wow. TheDevil you are actually a godsend - it's all up now, with very little elbow grease and no Harry Potter. Thanks very much.

hooray! glad to be of help.

it's odd how you think you should roll out the big guns but the simplest thing works so much better.
