Offer accepted almost a month ago - since then not a whiff of contact from the buyers.....

I'm not sure whether I'm being a neurotic vendor or not....

We haven't heard anything from the buyers since they offered, apart from them giving the estate agent their solicitors' details. No survey, nothing, de nada...

We have taken the house off the market - however I'm now fretting that they're not actually committed to buying it, and that we're being played for a couple of patsies whilst they faff around. AIBU ?

how weird

you need to find out what is happening

give them 24 hours to give you an update and then put it back on the market

claricebeansmum · 12/05/2009 19:19

I would have kept the house on the market until exchange. The estate agent is working for you so get them to contact them and ask what is going on and to continue marketing the property.

OlympedeGouges · 12/05/2009 19:20

that does not sound good I'm afraid. You need to tell them via agent if they don't book survey this week it is going back on the market. However they probably know how hard it is to sell right now.

MintyyAeroEgg · 12/05/2009 19:21

Alarm bells would be ringing for me, I'm afraid. Why have they not booked a survey, for instance? A month is way too long to wait. Get your EA to update you pronto!

PlumBumMum · 12/05/2009 19:23

Like Clarice says make sure your estate agent stays on top of them (although we had buyers pullout on us 2 weeks before moving date,we hadn't exchanged contracts yet and we were devastated, but silver lining we ended up with a younger cheaper better house, so worked out in the end)

slackrunner · 12/05/2009 19:25

Glad I'm not being neurotic (although I suspect I am becoming a property bore). DH doesn't want to rush them - as we don't want a fast move - however, they're pissing about IMO. Thanks for the wise words .

yep put it right back on the market. they are pissing around.

god luck

claricebeansmum · 12/05/2009 19:28

Don't want a fast move?

You might not move at all! You can always exchange with a long wait until completion.

slackrunner · 12/05/2009 19:32

I want a fast move (dd is five and has CP and we live in a totally impractical 3 storey house) - it's just that DH doesn't do rapid change. We're polar opposites in that respect (I am world's most impatient woman, which is why I needed to ask the MN property jury ). I don't think dh really grasps that I won't be able to lift her for much longer....

I did just talk to dh, apparently we have received docs from their solicitors. However, still no survey. Still feels odd to me .

I had this, and buyer pulled out as her sale had fallen through. Although we were told she was chain free...arrggh. I'd keep marketing it if I were you.

lalalonglegs · 13/05/2009 11:46

Maybe they are not having a survey - amazing number of people don't. Maybe surveyor is tied in with their mortgage offer and therefore they have to get that sorted and get the bank to arrange it all (which can be very slow). I would start getting shirty though at this stage.

LIZS · 13/05/2009 11:53

They may be taking time arranging a mortgage . If they don't have a significant deposit it can be harder to get a good deal at the moment. Your EA can follow it up and ask how it is progressing.

jeanjeannie · 13/05/2009 13:08

Chase it. This happened to me twice and both times the buyers couldn't get their mortgage agreed even though it'd been verbally approved before putting in the offer...and that was in the bouyant times!
