Website for tracking property price?

tiggerlovestobounce · 08/05/2009 09:57

There is a house that I'm interested in, that has been on the market for a while, and I'm interested to see if it have previously been offered at a higher price.

Is there a website that tracks this sort of detail? I have checked property snake, and it isnt on there; are there any other sites that have a similar function?

Try this:

www.property-bee.com

Once downloaded it will show the changes to price or description on Rightmove. It will also show when each listing was first made.

Ourproperty.com has previous sold prices registered with Land Registry back to 1995.

LiberalIdleOlogy · 08/05/2009 10:15

Sorry - should be:

www.ourproperty.co.uk/

Thanks for those links, it was property bee that I had been thinking of, but I just couldnt remember what the site was called.

zoopla is good too, linked to land registry for recent sales. And it has arial pics. But if you have a street with various house sizes (2 bed - 5 bed) it is harder to see trends.

madrush · 08/05/2009 10:40

property snake too

Fizzylemonade · 08/05/2009 14:16

yes but propertybee shows you what the house initially went on the market for and when, plus any changes made to the description or the price and on what days.

It means it shows when a house has been on the market for 2 years and they still haven't dropped their price

Am loving propertybee, it works on rightmove website.

I find property snake doesn't list all houses I know are for sale, and Zoopla is just what a house sold for, their projections of what it is worth now are good provided that the property sold hasn't had anything done to it.

ie little old lady sells her house that hasn't been touched decoration wise for 40 years, new owners rip everything out, re-wire, new kitchen, bathroom etc, zoopla does not take this into consideration so it can be misleading on a single case basis.

tiggerlovestobounce · 08/05/2009 16:09

Thanks for all the advice, very interesting.
Zoopla was interesting, though I see what you mean fizzylemonade, that its not completely accurate for an individual house. I had a look at the street that I live in, and looking at my own house and the 2 identical houses on either side there is a £80K difference in value between the lowest and the highest.
Unfortunately I dont think I will be able to shift the price of the house I am interested in much. The last time it was sold was at the peak of the market, and so is already offered at £30K less than they bought at, so I expect that the sellers will probably not be keen to drop much further.

I like the sound of property bee is it easy to imnstall?

LiberalIdleOlogy · 08/05/2009 21:53

Willow - it is very easy BUT I'm getting a message that their server is down at the moment and to try again on Saturday.

tiggerlovestobounce · 08/05/2009 21:58

I got that message too. If you go back and click the option to not be in a bee it installs OK, though I dont know if it makes it less effective in the long term?

OP posts:
WillowMother · 08/05/2009 22:16

Download
Install 2.0.5.0
Rightmove rentals supported...

Is that where you install it? When I click on Install 2.0.5.0 it gives me the option to save the file or find a programme online to open it - which do I do?

tiggerlovestobounce · 08/05/2009 22:19

I cant really remember (even though it was just today ).
I think I opened firefox, loaded up the page, clicked download, and then a wizard opened that took me through the installation process.

OP posts:
WillowMother · 08/05/2009 22:37

i don't have firefox on my comnputer, may be that is the problem...

tiggerlovestobounce · 08/05/2009 22:42

Maybe? It said something about running in firefox, which was why I downloaded it using firefox, maybe it doesnt work with IE?

DH has sorted it out for me but when I look at properties I know have reduced their price all it says is:

Date: 8 May 2009.
Event: Initial entry found.

Grrrrr I know this is wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

tiggerlovestobounce · 09/05/2009 07:59

Thats what I get too.

You need to go in and activate your account (you should have been sent a link to the e-mail account you registered with).

It is BRILLIANT. I'm having a good old snigger over some of the delusional price drops out there, not to mention price increases in the past year .

Thanks LiberalIdleOlogy - now feel more confident about going in at 85% of asking price.

WillowMother · 09/05/2009 20:10

I didn't register as don't want to be a Bee (

slackrunner · 09/05/2009 20:13

Think you have to be a bee for it to work

WillowMother · 09/05/2009 20:50

My Bee
Introduction
This area is dedicated to you and when complete will show

Your nearest neighbours, ie other property bee users that are looking in the same area as you.
Some statistics including the number of properties you have viewed and changes you have found.
The state of the server, including how its performing, how many properties/changes there are in total etc.
And maybe some more features when we think of them!

Just don't like the idea that people can see what I have been looking at - does it show your email or just your user name?

slackrunner · 09/05/2009 20:55

WM - I've just logged into MyBee and I can't see anything that exposes my e-mail address or username for that matter....Maybe I'm missing something though.

WillowMother · 09/05/2009 21:17

I have registered (gulp) but when I go onto rightmove it still only shows me what it did before (see post above). Wonder why - off to read the forums for help...

slackrunner · 09/05/2009 22:52

Have you got Firefox installed?

WillowMother · 10/05/2009 10:02

Yeah & today when i searched on rightmove it is showing today's date & no full history. Am feeling very frustrated with it!!

JimmyMcNulty · 10/05/2009 19:48

You do need to run it in Firefox. If you opt to work in a bee it means you will be able to see far more information (ie if others have looked at a house before you you will get the information they got, price drops etc). Nobody can see your email, just your username.

If you choose not to work in a bee you will only be able to track information that you have viewed yourself, so if 8 May is the first date you clicked on a house it will only track its price etc from that day and only track new info when you next click on it.
