planning new bedroom furniture and was about to buy oak wardrobe which is lovely but only 100cm wide so not sure this si going to be wide enough for both me and dh?

What have others got here?

we are just about to have new wardrobes fitted, we will have two 95cm rails, so i would reckon 100m not enough. depends on whether or not you hang bulky things, like suits, in it.

We have half in bedroom and half in spare room

We have 3! - 2 for dh and 1 for me. Each 1m wide. 1 of dh's is fitted out with shelves; the other with 2 rails. Mine is split: half is shelves; half full-height rail. Bedding and towels are also in mine. Dh never chucks clothes (though I edit those that are falling to pieces). We have no drawers or storage options though.

vld, love your name. do you have nightly intentions like i do. still have a smelly pair of trainers gathering dust by the front door.

We have separate ones, all fitted (and horrible ). 2 big double wardrobes for dh, yet he still has his clothes all over the floor. One small double and a single one for me - more than enough for my needs. All are a mixture of shelves and rails. All clothes except underwear are in the wardrobes.

I am lucky that we have lots and lots of wardrobe space in our room, we have Ikea Pax which allows us to put drawers in that you can over-fill and still close them.

We have a single 50cm wide one each, all internal drawers for t-shirts, underwear, and a drawer in each for clothes that have been worn but aren't dirty.

We have a double 100cm inbetween the singles with 2 hanging rails in. As my Dh is very tall we have put a shelf in under where his shirts hang down to, then mine are on the bottom hanging rail which is much lower down than half way because all my stuff is shorter.

We are then fortunate enough to have another double wardrobe and a single the single has a hanging rail for all the long stuff, dresses and coats.

And no I don't live in a huge house it is a 3 bed detached!!!!

Have a look at this to see the pax stuff, we have had ours for years and changed lots of the interior stuff over time to suit our needs.

I meant to say we have no chest of drawers in our room. I like to be able to pull the entire drawer out, and I don't have the expensive wooden ones but plastic ones that are much cheaper.

We have a wardrobe with 2 100cm rails (one above the other) which is great for blouses and shirts etc. We then have 2 x 50cm winde bits - one with full length hanging and one with shelves. More than enough for dh and I. However, we couldn't make do with 1 100cm rail.

We have finally, after nearly 8 years in the house, got proper wardrobes fitted (mind you, saying that, DP still hasn't put the doors on ).

Theres a whole wall of fitted cupboards - 5 full-sized doors (with 2 double and 1 single wardrobes inside IYSWIM) and 5 cupboards above.

I get a double (which includes 2 hanging rails, one above the other, and drawers) and the single (full length hanging space). DP gets a double.

Its amazing how quickly they fill up though

My children have a 90cm one each, no way could we manage with 50cm's each however I really really wish I could, maybe we should all just have less stuff.

MrsGokWan · 30/04/2009 12:40

Fizzy lemonade we have the Pax system as well It's brilliant. We have 3 along one wall at 100cm each, floor to ceiling.

One has 2 hanging rails in with a basket inbetween. It has DH shirts, suits and trousers in. The basket has his jumpers and odds an sods in. His shoes go in the bottom.

The next has a hanging rail for my skirts, blouses and trousers and 4 baskets for all our t shirts, shorts and assorted other bits and pieces. Some flat shoes in the bottom.

The third has another rail for long dresses, coats etc. a basket for our bed linen and towels and underneath is my shoes and boots.

I love it, never had so much space. We are going to put a Pax in the DC's in the summer and hopefully DH will get round to putting the doors on ours [roll eyes emoticon]

i have always had my own.

in case of emergency Dh gets draws or floor - or anywhere else cos i dont give a shit.

the wardrobe is mine.

hijack
we have fitted wardrobes with hideous broken doors (they don't hang or close properly)I don't think that we could get new doors for them (and still hate the outside colour anyway) - am thinking about taking doors off and fitting a curtain instead. Has anyone else done this?
Seems a waste to get rid of functional furniture just because I don't like the colour

NorbertDentressangle · 30/04/2009 12:58

pippo -it seems that no doors might be the way forward

(after reading MrsGokWan's post I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in having door-less wardrobes )

pippo · 30/04/2009 13:20
