So, how much do you love your marmoleum floor?

Am being tempted by the marmoleum in rampantrabbit's thread. It's not something we have considered before.
So tell me - do you love it? Should I consider it?

I m worried it will look too ".

Oh, and does anyone know if it works with underfloor heating?

Hmm...no idea what happened to my sentence above

I had written that I was worried it will look too commercial/industrial and not "homely" enough.

I'm off to hunt for the thread as I want some...

here is the brochure! I'm GONE, I'm GONE!

JeMenFous · 20/04/2009 12:58

We had it in one house, it is lovely, much nicer than lino

frumpygrumpy · 20/04/2009 12:59

You mean nicer than vinyl? It is lino, real, old-fashioned, traditional linoleum.

ruty · 20/04/2009 13:03

love it love it love it. Vinyl is vile. Only ever had it in bathrooms but it is warm to the touch, smells lovely [made of linseed oil] and easy to clean. I'd have it all over the house if i could. very good colours to choose from too. Don't know about underfloor heating though.

vonny67 · 20/04/2009 13:04

I too love my Marmoleum floor. It's warm underfoot, easy to clean, looks fab, I could go on and on, (and on!)

I've had mine for 7 years and it's very worn and scruffy and faded

wish I'd saved 400 squid and used lino instead!

ruty · 20/04/2009 17:41

it is lino MP. Unless you mean vinyl . [sniffy]

ruty · 20/04/2009 17:41

and it is much more expensive than vinyl anyway.

I ordered some free samples at the weekend and they turned up today. I really like the feel of it but DH is leaning towards Karndean

SpaceTrain · 20/04/2009 18:46

How does the price compare with Karndean? Currently we are planning on Karndean for a few of our rooms, but I am now interested in Marmoleum instead.

Smells nice, is warm underfoot, and doesn't necessarily shatter everything dropped on it. The swirls hide dirt a bit, too!

We have a chequered floor in the kitchen/dining bit, two tones of sort of butterscotch-stoney colour, so it's a subtle check. We like it lots!

Clayhead · 20/04/2009 20:02

Hated ours so much we paid to have it removed and tiled instead.

We had a problem with it from the moment it was fitted and the manufacturer just wasn't interested. Finally agreed it had a factory fault but then we needed to chase them for several more months to do anything about it.

Seven years after the second lot went down we finally snapped and had it ripped out (it was very scruffy looking by then anyway). Am angry and sad at the money we wasted.

deegward · 20/04/2009 20:04

Love it, used to have in bathroom, and kitchen in old house, miss it., would have it again if I could afford it.
