Should I use trade or retail masonry paint?

We're going to repaint the front of our house and i'm not sure whether to use dulux retail (5L £20ish) or trade (5L £40 but i have a voucher so about £30).

Is it worth going for trade?

Thanks

Depends if you are planing to keep or sell the house! trade for you, retail to sell (althouhg in this market you might need a very long term approach to selling - so stick to trade!)

We're planning to stay, and have decided to fix all the half done jobs done by (mainly) previous owners and (a little bit) us.

I cannot take the nicotine cream they painted outside anymore!

The thing i am unsure of is do you need to thin down the trade paint, or is that just a cheapness thing?

According to DP (builder) - trade has more pigment/solids than retail but it's harder to apply. If you thin it down then you might as well just buy retail.

We've got white walls and they're done in trade paint and boy did I feel it on my hands - hard work to put on but looks fab! Wipes well too - even got off felt tip scribble

Thanks - would you mind asking your DP how much it would need thinning down? Hope you don't mind me taking liberties!

Well, he reckons it's a waste to thin it down as it's the thickness (think double cream!) that makes it so much better than retail. Tends to last longer than retail too. Just get yourself a good brush and plenty of wrist action!

Excellent! Thank you so much, I wouldn't have had a clue where to start!
