Hi,

Has anyone got there and where did you get them from and how safe do they feel with young children?

erm. sorry i dont know what you mean, can you explain? do you mean a see through panel to replcace banisters?

lalalonglegs · 06/03/2009 18:28

Do you mean pretend glass as a balustrade? If so, I would recommend glass as the acrylic definitely wobbles and feels unsafe (even though I'm sure it is) and consequently feels a bit cheap as well.

Oh! good question! But I would only go for glass. Have considered it for this house, but haven't got as far as googliing yet.

wombleprincess · 07/03/2009 07:56

i understand that the acrylic isnt suitable because its not fire retardant and scratches very easily...

Now I've seen this I'm not sure.

We've got one of those. You need glass as acrylic is bendy and scratches. Great with kids - they think it's very funny to press their noses against it!

LynetteScavo · 07/03/2009 08:57

Are they expensive? I can't find any prices.

lalalonglegs · 07/03/2009 09:28

I think it generally has to be custom-made because staircases are all quite different. So, yes, ching ching.

We just gave our local glass bloke (technical eh?) the size and he softened all the edges of the toughened glass then DP popped it into the space using those metal square brackets - so, not difficult to fit. Honestly don't think it was a particularly ££$$ option.

hi all, thanks for these. This is what we had been looking at:
