Question about Building insurance claim - a 'suite' question..

If my building insurance policy does not specify only replacing/repairing part of a suite/set, does this mean I should presume they would pay for it all, if a matching item is not found?

My insurance advisor has told me that my buildings policy states this, but it does not, only for contents, he said, its the same for both, but it clearly only states it under contents, and I am claiming on buildings.

Advice greatly appreciated.

Any insurer is only obliged to replace the damaged item, eg bath, toilet etc. The rest has not been damaged. Most insurers specify this to make it clear but not all. This does not alter the fact that they are only obliged to pay for the damaged item. Most insurers will be able to source a matching item/colour (there are specialist companies that do this). If really can't find a matching item, and i would be suprised, some companies might do a deal with you, ie contribute towards the cost of matching items but they are not obliged to

risingstar - thank you for replying. They have agreed 50% of the rest of the suite and I thought that would be the most, and I know that is good, but if I was able to get more I would certainly try!
