Do you have engineered oak wooden flooring?

Hi, We are planning on putting down some engineered oak flooring. We are after something with an oiled finish, not lacquered, with a good quality finish but not too expensive (does it exist?!!).

I wondered if anyone could recommend a particular brand/style (which I could try to find cheaply online), a good online stockist or a store/showroom in Berkshire/London area.

All recommendations most gratefully received!

In our old house we put down engineered flooring in order to sell the house. The one we got was from Ikea HERE

It was just a quick, cheap solution for us at the time although I don't know if I would have chosen it for long term if I were buying a wooden floor that was to last for more than a few years.....but, it done the job and looked really nice. It is lacquered but is not shiny or varnished looking if you know what I mean, it looks matt/satin?

Also, a lot of companies online will send you samples out in the post so you could check for suppliers in your area and request some testers before you make a trek out to the shops.

We have oiled wooden oak flooring and it looked really nice to start with but seems to stain really easily. We have since been told that you are supposed to re-oil it once the floor is laid (before you use it)as the prefinish is often not hard wearing enough. The bloke who laid it was a cowboy and obviously couldn't be bothered to finish the job properly!

Having said that, the oiled finish is easy to repair when scratched as you only need to repair the scratch not the whole floor.

Yeah, you should keep re-oiling it until drops of water sit on it in the same way as when your cars been waxed if you know what I mean.
