Can you find out how long a property's been on the market for?

I mean easily on the internet. I'm assuming that you could ask the estate agent...
Just curious really as we can't decide whether to put our house up for sale but don't want it to look bad if it doesn't sell for ages or if we decide to take it off and then put it back on again.

Also i'd like to know this about properties we are looking at as it would influence how much i offered.

We'd like to move to have more space but we're not desperate...yet

It could be listed on propertysnake if it has been reduced - that tells you how long discounted houses have been on the market. Or a seller could ask the estate agent - they are meant to ask direct questions honestly. I think propertybee also tells you how long a house has been for sale.

To be honest, most people are looking in a particular area for a particular size house and they will know if your home has been around for a while because they will be searching websites fairly regularly. I wouldn't worry about looking bad, I'd worry about not selling in which case, work out why it is happening and reduce the price accordingly.

Normally the oictures are a dead giveaway if it hasn't sold quickly iyswim.

There is something called Property Bee which you can download and it will then come up with a little box for each property you view on Rightmove showing when it first came onto the market and any changes that have been made to the listing eg. change of price, any wording that changes in the details.

There's a few by us who have sun loungers in the garden on the details.
But in all honesty I don't think it matters that much, it's individual circumstances.
My plan is to put ours on the market in 18 months time, at a price which reflects the market at the time and then start making offers based on what I'm told mine is worth if that makes sense.
I know each extra bedroom costs about £30-40k here for example.
