How many of you with UPVC windows have had problems or had to replace them? Have heard the can start to fail within 10 years, unlike the manufacturers claims.

We inherited them in our current house - don't know how long they have been in (I would guess over 10 years by now). We have had to replace a few of the sealed units over the years as they had misted up but the frames seem sound. Have never heard of problems with the frames themselves from anyone else....

are they still white?

There are companies that will come and clean the UPVC frames for you.

We have a local conservatory company that will clean the conservatory inside and out and for a bit extra they do doors and windows, can't wait to get mine all done in summer.

My parents UPVC windows lasted 20 years! They were Anglian windows. I think you get what you pay for.

magicfaraway..... I can see from your other thread that you currently have wooden and are toying with the idea of UPVC.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Don't be tempted. It's a slippery slope and you could find yourself installing a nice, 'living flame' gas fire next.

'living flame'. .....may be a bit late. however, now want to take it out and install a real fire.
