Needs -

To be within about half an hour driving distance to Ashford.

To be detached.

To have a garden.

To have at least 4 bedrooms.

To have a driveway for 2 cars.

It was my job to do today and I don't know where to start!

You should be able to put all your criteria into a property search website. Try Rightmove and Primelocation.

Ashford in Kent or in Middlesex?

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 13:53

Kent.

Ddin't know there was one in Middlesex.

Thanks Siriusmew. I have tried online house shopping before and just find there are too many choices!

5 Bedroom do you? - lovely local school, 30 minute drive to Ashford.

We're moving from West London to Rye and I heavily researched the area (and the houses) before settling on the property we're now in the process of buying. But I really liked the Icklesham house (and area).

MrsRecycle · 30/01/2009 14:10

we viewed this house and loved the rural location and the homely feel of the house. But not sure of budget for you.

MrsRecycle · 30/01/2009 14:14

we didn't view this one but it is cheaper and closer to Ashford.

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 14:51

Thank you

I think the £379,000 is a bit too expensive but the others are possibles,

DH is more fussy than me though

Scuse the hijack but Mrs R, you are leaving R Gdns? Rye is lovely. Very

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 15:53

he thinks one of them is all right but the garden is small.

I have told him you can't have everything and he says he wants everything!

Yes I am Chippy - we are (hopefully) buying this house.

It has a massive garden NAB, but no garage. We wanted everything but didn't get it all. But the house is enough for us (and I fell in love with it!).

Do you have LOs NAB - if so are schools a consideration? As I have 3, I spent a lot of time looking at areas with regards primary/secondary schools. For example New Romney is lovely (and cheap) but schools aren't so good there but a 10 minute drive will find a good primary school. Lots and lots to consider. Brenzett has a brilliant school but again, High school is a bit of trek (hence us choosing Rye). Link me some properties and I'll tell you what the area/schools are like.

Where are you moving from?

ChippyMinton · 30/01/2009 16:39

Looks lovely . Will you still be weekending at Camber LOL?!

MrsRecycle · 30/01/2009 16:52

we might move van to another site or rent it out more. Girls do not want to get rid of it.

ChippyMinton · 30/01/2009 17:33

Sparky is very persuasive isn't he? We're going to Nodes Point at easter and may hal-term, heaven help me

Have you got work down there?

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 17:41

Yep, I have 2 at school and one to start this September.

DH wants a big garden for his hobby and it was the garden that sold him this house.

We live near Maidstone atm.

There is a lovely school in Brookland - 95 pupils in all. A vendor couldn't speak highly enough of the school - she was selling her house is Brenzett. But we are also looking at Rye Community (Primary and High School) as there is a nursery attached as well.

I will try and think of some with a big garden/garage.

MrsRecycle · 30/01/2009 19:23

Chippy - I'm hoping to work from home or, I can commute into London. There is going to be a high speed rail link from Ashford to London December this year and it'll be 39 minutes journey time. So NABS Ashford is a good place to move to - I can really see house prices increase when the market picks up.

Rye was in the Guardian recently as one of the Top up and coming trendy places to live.

MrsRecycle · 30/01/2009 19:26

Wow this garden is massive the property's been on the market for ages as well.

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 19:43

Thank you for looking

DH didn't like that.

When he said he wanted a bit garden, he meant it Ours is currently 60foot.

Try www.globrix.com you can do a really specific search like yours and search on a map or as a list too which I love.

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 19:54

Found two I liked but DH didn't

It is hard work this house hunting.

I am a lot less fussy than DH. I just want to move.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 30/01/2009 21:06

It is hard work isn't it? Our new house has a massive garden but only 3 beds so we're finishing off the loft conversion and making it a 5 bed. Maybe look for 3 beds with scope to extend if a big garden is priority.

eNABlemetobebetter · 30/01/2009 21:48

I don't think he wants to move right now

Can't make the snap decision we did last time we moved, I guess.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 31/01/2009 10:27

I agree with him actually. It's not something to do lightly in the present climate - we've taken 5 years to agree on this move!

eNABlemetobebetter · 31/01/2009 14:59

I want to move as I am not happy here. Haven't been for a long time once I knew it wasn't our forever house. I am wanting to run away. Again.
