Toilet roll holder in a wet room - suggestions?

MinnieMummy · 11/01/2009 21:19

Does anyone know of a waterproof toilet roll holder??! We have just had a lovely wet room installed and although it's great the toilet is near the shower so there's nowhere for a toilet roll holder/ring to go where it wouldn't all get wet.

Open to suggestions!

do you mean to protect the paper from getting wet or just that the holder needs to be suitable for a wet room (e.g a rust gauranted etc) if the latter try samuel heath range.

Why not go paperless and do a handstand in the shower after - this links to a specialist wet firm supplier. May have something there - or try a google search.

Wetrooms seem appealing but what happens if you go to loo after someone has used the shower - don't you get wet feet?

LOL at this thread.

jeanjeannie · 13/01/2009 14:45

Also LOL at this thread.

That's it - a way to make my fortune - waterproof dollies to go over the rolls...

SexyDomesticatedDad · 13/01/2009 15:28

Or just use the wet wipe types .

MinnieMummy · 13/01/2009 16:49

Yes the wet feet thing is an issue!! - think we have solved by having a pair of flip-flops at the door though.

Have tried googling but I only seem to be able to find 'normal' t-r holders. I can't be the only one with this problem can I??

put a shower cap over the bog roll / holder

princessmel · 14/01/2009 22:31

Keep it in a stylish waterproof contaier next to the loo.

SexyDomesticatedDad · 15/01/2009 13:03

Found One - not sure how stylish that is.

Lionstar · 15/01/2009 13:05

Keep the toilet roll outside the door, and just take it in with you when you need to go?

Lionstar · 15/01/2009 13:50

Or (thinking too much about this random problem obviously) how about any old plastic container on the floor with a sealing lid

MinnieMummy · 17/01/2009 20:16

Ouch £36.95 for a plastic box!! But thank you very much for looking, genius idea to go down the sailing route!

At the moment we keep it on the window sill but this is a slight issue for me in particular as on the odd occasion I have forgotten to pick it up and then found myself sitting there thinking 'damn....!'

May just go for something smart from Muji, if they must do something that seals...

Wipe ya arse on the towels.

AnotherFineMess · 17/01/2009 20:19

How about one of the large baby wipe dispensers with the press close/open lids? I've got an opaque white one somewhere without branding on that wouldn't look too naff (though I have low standards )

Moondancer · 17/01/2009 20:22

Is it usual to have a toilet in a wet room? Just curious!

mrsmaidamess · 17/01/2009 20:22

what about this

MinnieMummy · 17/01/2009 21:34

I don't know about what's usual, we kind of designed ours from scratch and since there wasn't a lot of space the toilet had to go in the same room.
Had thought of something along the lines of the ones you get in public toilets, but 'nice'. Will definitely look at the Ikea one!

Thank you all for your time and suggestions, much appreciated! You have restored my faith in MN!

OP posts:
SexyDomesticatedDad · 19/01/2009 12:23

I saw the IKEA one too - looks nicer but its a sort of flap over the roll - water could easily get the side of the roll and then you just have a soggy mess. If the shower is that close you need something that covers it all up.

HenryF · 11/11/2012 09:25

There is always The Bum Gun. In my experience far better, cleaner, simpler and more hygienic than toilet paper. No contest really. I'll never go back to toilet paper. And no problem if it gets wet in a Wet Room.

MandaHugNKiss · 11/11/2012 09:53

Well, now I'm wondering what you were searching for, HenryF to bring up this almost four year old thread!

MNHubbie · 11/11/2012 10:03

Rofl, the mind boggles Manda.

Though we live in the UAE and all the toilets have a shower next to them, you pull a trigger and hey presto! Water!

MandaHugNKiss · 11/11/2012 22:40

wonky I just love the juxtaposition of of an airy-fairy description that almost leads you to believe you're considering purchasing a work of art that will literally change your bog life, with the first seller being... tesco. It's fantastic and given me a much needed boost this evening. Thanks!

grandpamotorbike · 05/03/2013 13:32

Look isn't this all just another cunning plan to part us with thousands of pounds to get the 'latest thing'. In my bathroom I want to get wet in the shower and dry out of it using nice dry towels that stay dry even if dropped on the floor. When I go to the loo I want my feet to stay dry and my loo paper to stay dry too...
I guess if you have room to have a separate wet room for showering in??
Or would that be just..... a nice big shower cubicle?
Or am I missing something here?
(Why is grandpamotorbike on mumsnet? (a) there's no 'parentsnet' or 'grandparentsnet' for that matter (b) I am spending more time with the grandchildren these days - hence the name (c) whenever I search for something to bang on about mumsnet ALWAYS comes up as the place where a discussion is ongoing!!! (real reason this one!)

specialsubject · 05/03/2013 14:23

having lived in Greece where all bathrooms are wet rooms, you need a toilet roll holder with a big flap over it. This means you can't see when the roll is running low...
