you know its kind of well seeded as in it grows grass and herbs and heathers and stuff out of it. i am not sure. will it look patchy and shit? i dont know anyone at all with one! do real people have these things? i dont think my roofer will even know what one is let alone how to lay the darn thing

Not got one but DP is a builder...he's desperate to do one and has plans for one here at home

Like you I worry it'll look like a patchy, scrubby old garden!!

Hope someone can persuade me too!

No, not in Devon - Bucks. Do a swap to be near the sea though

I've seen a lot (although I don't own one ). It very much depends on the type of plants you get on it - drought resistant for example or salt tolerant if you are near sea - generally they look fab. If you do proper research, you should find one to suit your climate and aspect. Some people do meadow plants which look wonderful. I would definitely have one if I could .

There is one in our road and it looks amazing .
I am planning one for a small flat roof area at the side of our house.
I think they blend in really well with gardens and are great for wildlife.
Look in the Yellow Pages- there is someone in our local one (Norfolk) who does them and you may find someone local to you.

Some good info and pics here (and lots if you google generally)

ooh the heather ones look lovely.

what about maintenance? and weeds? surely you must get weed and grass seeds/spores landing on it?

anyone know if this is a very costly thing to have done?

am starting to warm to the idea

S0me info here
www.greenfixuk.com/products/weed.html
Haven't seen any weeds on my neighbour's roof, only sedum and chives which flower all summer...
I think they look fab (as I said we are having one), much nicer than boring dark roof tiles.

are you ahving yours installed on an existting roof pannacotta? or is that being done at the same time? how exciting!

Yes it will replace an exisitng flat roof which currently leaks (onto my desk where I use my laptop so not ideal at the mo!).
Hope you find the info you want bel.
