Free standing kitchen

We are considering a free standing kitchen as we are moving into DH old house that doesn't have a kitchen and we need to put one in ASAP, I never actually seen a free standing kitchen. Do they look messy, cheap, odd? The pics I've googled look pretty good but in reality how do they measure up to a fitted kitchen.

Where would you recommend?

Soup the house has no value and we will loose a lot if we had to sell. The house has nothing in the kitchen other than a sink the whole house is in a dire state we just need to make it functional without spending £££££.

Hassled good tip about tiles, DH wants them so that solves the flooring problem.

Fkight good idea about worktops, I cook a lot so need loads of work space.

It is the cleaning ease that makes them important

anything you can wipe down is fine. Wooden table or dresser is not a good substitute!

Storage isnt really a problem

Habitat units are good and large but v v dear.
I think Ikea a better bet really. You could have one long run of worktop along one wall and the rest free standing and also have cupboards underneath worktop/ on castors/ wall cupboards.

I am keeping our manky, falling to bits fitted kitchen though! Never again the awful sleepless nights feeling responsible for the layout of an enormous kitchen! lol

You got sick of walkign around it just to get a saucepan and some water and an egg. At least half a mile a day.
