Our buyer is threatening to pull at the week of exchange for ridiculous reasons!

My blood pressure has gone through the roof. He clearly is panicking and has just got cold feet, is threatening to not go ahead with the sale due to some minor things on the survey.

I'm 7 months pregnant so if we don't move now we're never moving! Have spent a fortune on surveys, searches and fees on the property we are buying.

Need virtual sympathy and finger crossing please!

is he making demands?

poopscoop · 20/11/2008 10:05

stay calm, he is trying it on in the current climate and prob wants to make some money out of you.

I doubt he will pull out, he will have spent a fortune on fees so far.

No, not as yet. He's fairly old and seems a bit of a flapper.

Essentially, he decided not to have a survey as was a cash buyer (madness) and then at the 11th hour (a week ago) decided he probably needed one after all.

He has already exchanged on his property by a certain day and is now concerned that the queries he has on the survey can't be resolved in time so he may as well pull out completely and rent instead.

It's completely irrational on his part which makes it even ore frustrating. I would be prepared to offer him cash!

Oh no fruitstick, I was wondering how you were getting on. That's so stressful - good luck.

If he is only worried about the survey then that can be sorted out. Get on to your estate agent and let him/her take the strain. There is nothing you can usefully do - go out (if you aren't at work) and do something that will take your mind off it or at least calm you down: a long walk, a swim.

Has been more investigation into the cracks and they are definitely not signs of subsidence.

However he is still determined to pull out - although obviously now has no valid reason to give. Just gone off the idea.

Estate agent is going to have one last ditch attempt to change his mind on Monday (after he's had the weekend to find out how expensive rent is).

Other than that, looks like new baby will be sleeping in a drawer!

Loads of virtual sympathy, we've just had a buyer pull out through sheer panic and/or bloody mindedness

And I, at least, am not pregnant. Our buyer is though (8 mos) and its her father, who was financing the deal in the first instance, who pulled out.

Curses upon the buyers who put pg women through this (and us non pg ones too) at the 11th hour!

Seriously, I'm so sorry. Its the pits. My solicitor said about 50% of deals are going the same way atm, which failed to make me feel any better and probably won't help you either.

Here's hoping things turn around and your buyer finds some balls!

lalalonglegs · 20/11/2008 18:18

Sorry - fingers crossed for Monday.

fruitstick · 21/11/2008 09:50

oh, and my husband has just crashed/potentially written off his car, which he had serviced and repaired on Wednesday.

Thankfully he is fine but our week is most definitely not!

Put pressure on the estate agent to close the sale - threaten to take your property to another agent if necessary.
