Selling House - the survey - how long?

We have accepted an offer on our hpouse and the buyers survey takes place in a couple of days. I don't know what sort they are going for but how long do you think it'll take before we know how it went? Am really nervous as it is an old house.

It completely depends - if it's just the valuation then they may never know the result except to say whether the mortgage company are prepared to lend on the house, which I think they should get told within a few days. Then it will probably be a case of they can proceed, or they can't.

If it's a full survey then you normally get rung within a day or two with a verbal report, then get the full written version in the post within a week or two.

If they are intending to use the survey to negotiate I would imagine they'd wait for the written version anyway, as it's quite usual to accompany a revised offer with a page of the gloomy bit in the survey you are referring to, so you might not hear anything for a bit.

Thnaks for that. Will be glad to know either way really. Hate this feeling of wanting to get excited but not daring to!

good luck - hope it goes well!

BTW re-reading my post I realised it was a bit ambiguous - when I said "you normally get rung in a day or two" I meant the person who commissioned the survey normally gets rung then, you won't hear anything unless the buyer passes it on of course.

Sorry if that was obvious, just wasn't sure I phrased my post very well.
