HELP! Due to exchange tomorrow. Buyers want to drop a further 25k. Is there anything we can do?

We accepted an offer 50k below asking price on our flat 3 months ago. Buyers have been awkward all the way, and now want to drop a further 25k, the day before we are due to exchange. We can't afford this, unless the next property in the chain takes the hit too, and we really don't think he will.

About to speak to agents, but does anyone have any advice? Is this likely to be a negotiating position or might they really pull out if we say no?

Scared.

Hi all, modem broke, and have been offline all week. Still not sorted, but hoping for exchange this week, which will mean we can finally move. Don't even care about the money any more, just want the damn thing to happen! And have found cheaper house to buy, so hopefully won't need to deal with nightmare of renting with a dog. I do understand those of you who hate dogs not wanting them in your home, but really, it seems

Good luck again .Hope it's all sorted.

yay!

finally, finally, finally, we exchanged today and move in two weeks. it was like pulling teeth, trying to get past every little obstacle, but we got there in the end.

can finally breathe again - we have a new home to move to and can try and put the last few weeks behind us

HURRAH!

I live in Finsbury Park too. You have definitely done the right thing. You could never have hung onto your current place and rented it out- the rental market is saturated round here. The lovely flat upstairs from me has been vacant for months.

And I know local people who have had to sell to those dreadful companies ("Cash price for your house today!") just because otherwise they could not shift their flat for love nor money. They were utterly gutted as they had turned down offers before, thinking they could do better.

Open the champagne tonight!

Thanks wobbegong. I saw those adverts, and considered phoning. Very glad it didn't come to that.

Still, shame we're moving out just as I find a local MNer Elvis fan!!!

That's fantastic news. Good luck - is the house you are moving to one of the two you were interested earlier in this thread?

MamaChris · 01/11/2008 16:30
