Large Letter box - has anyone got one and where do I get a cover for inside it?

We've just had our tiddly old letterbox replaced with a giant antique one I found years ago in a charity shop. I think it was from a Georgian building, it is absolutely huge though and the hole they had to cut measures 10cm deep by 30cm long.

I want - need actually - a cover for it as it is going to let out about 85% of our heating otherwise

But everywhere I've tried only sells them up to 75mm wide.

I'm stumped for a way around this - I don't suppose anyone else has one this size and has managed to find a cover for it?

Thankyou (I am flight btw)

Broughtons Ironmongers near Leicester do loads of architectural salvage and might hav ewhat you want. They have a website which doesn't include all their sales lines but would give contact numbers. They have always been v friendly and helpful.

Would love to hear if you found a solution to this issue. We have a 8 cm deep by 25cm long letterbox hole and are having the same problems finding a letterbox cover!

ah, you mean a draught flap. I can't see one so big.

It needs to be bigger than the hole in the door

If all else fails, you could make a wooden, brass or stainless flap and attach it by hinges. There are metal companies that will cut sheet to size and drill fixing holes, I've had kickplates for doors made at modest prices. Off the shelf there are fingerplates. You would have to devise your own hinge fixing and perhaps shorten it.. For example

On a related subject, yours is big enough to get a hand, arm, mirror and burglars' implement through, so it should be well away from the door lock. You might consider putting a letter cage or internal box on the inside. A close-fitting box would also block draughts.

This just made me laugh because my friend couldn't find one to fit her letterbox & had a scrunched up tea towel in there for years!

Sorry not at all helpful!
