Bathroom dilemma...

Hi,
We are currently spending most of our savings on a new bathroom, tiling, suite ,floor etc,
The plumber is half way through and left yesterday for the weekend.
I didnt notice last night but this morning have noticed the new bath which is in place, has a chip out of it along the top outer edge. Its about 1 cm by 1/2 cm so not massive but quite noticeable.
I dont know whats happened but think its probable that the plumber has dropped a tile or something on it but obviously have no proof of this.
Im not happy at all but my DP says its not worth the hassle and we should just accept it.
What would you do in this situation?

You definitely need to say something. If it's on the outer edge, you will notice it every time you go into the bathroom, and when you come to sell, buyers will be really aware of it.

It's outrageous-and stupid-that he didn't tell you, and if you don't mention it he may feel he can get away with other mistakes and start cutting corners.

There's no need to go in all guns blazing, just tell him you've noticed the chip and wondered what happened.

Certainly have it sorted. Chips in baths will do the same as one in a mug / plate, as water leaks in gradually it will cause cracks.

Did you check the bath before it was installed?? The fact that he installed it and hasn't spotted it means he is either blind OR he did it!!

When I got new worktops put in, the chaps who fitted them opened it and came straight to me to show me a dent in the front edge, they definitely hadn't done it as I had seen them take it very carefully and workmen usually check the product before they install it. Otherwise you then say I'm not happy and they have to take it back out.

You definitely need to say something, you bought a very nice bath, not a faulty one.

I wouldnt accept this. You are entitled to a bath without a chip in it.
The plumber should have inspected the bath to make sure it was OK, so either they didnt or they chipped it themselves

What is it with dp's not wanting to complain about stuff tonight?

You must get this sorted, or at least an explanation from the plumber. You will kick yourselves if you don't.

There was some great advice on here a while ago about a builder who had fitted a stupidly sized breakfast bar and the OP was crapping themselves about confronting him. I'll see if I can find it...

have a look at peasoups advice about 'confronting' a workman who's cocked up...
