ex was a plumber, i would have thought about 3 days work for one bloke, so about 800-1000.

I would do it yourself. There's lots of online help for DIY stuff these days. 3 Grand is a crazy price.

Have just been quoted £550 for taking out bath, loo, basin, shower, then fitting the same (we will supply). However, this does not include tiling. Have a feeling the tiling/grouting may be a big part of the quotes you've been sent as it's quite time consuming?

spidermama, it took us all weekend just to put up 2 shelves from ikea, i think a whole loo is way above our level!

we eventually got my dad to help. he is 70 and blind, and he managed it in one afternoon.

my hubby would do it for a lot less than that! where are you based?

shame its too far from us although i could be persuaded to let him go stay for a few nights . he is an electrician by trade but has worked at a plumbers/electrical contractors in years gone by he done a fab job on our bathroom including an inbuilt tv touch control for lighting etc.

oh well, thanks for the thought anyway. i don't know why but there seems to be a real shortage round here.... hence why they can charge so much i guess... 2 people that came to quote never even got back to me with a price!

to put it into context we've just paid 2800 to take out entire old bathroom, tiles, whole suite, replaster, retile, reinstall suite.

for our cloakroom suite (toilet and sink, tile floor) it wsa going to cost 800.. again it was in the south...
