We are in the process of having a new kitchen fitted IKEA white gloss modern.

We are having limestone floor and a granite worktop and are struggling to come up with which granite to have.We thought possibly grey mottled or a mottled black.

Any thoughts.

Do want granite though.

Fymandbean
that looks lovely thanks - think we are going for kashmir white which we just got a sample for and looks lovely in the room.

Turniphead,
I am now worried about the limestone...It is expensive and can't afford to replace if we ruin it.

We have got a 2 year old ds - not potty trained yet- and pretty destructive in a boy way (he says his name is 'cheeky' when asked) and very good at throwing, spilling food.

Friend with young children has limestone and it looks gorgeous as you say although her whole house is immaculate anyway. She did mention orange juice is a bit of a problem but didn't realise grease and dirt were too.As the room will open onto the garden with folding doors this could be a problem with ds running in and out.

We did consider oak floor although have struggled to find one we really like and looks good with the modern kitchen. We were also not sure if this was a good idea in the kitchen area as have heard various views on the suitability of wood for a kitchen including the thread on here.Doesn't seem there is a perfect floor for a kitchen generally.

Dh prefers the idea of a natural material to tiles although from the sound of things this would be more practical. We have other friends who have tlies that look like travertine which looks good too.

Turniphead,

Doesn't sound too good......

We have looked at tiles in loads of places including fired earth but can't find ones that look as good as the limestone.

Have you got any suggestions? If we can find one that looks good I'm sure Dh will be happy to go with this.

I've got visions of me following the children round with a mop/brush all day.
