Hia,

ChatGPT wonder has made over our utility and it’s looking amazing on the visual!! Put the before and after so you can all be as bedazzled as I am

When I ask for paint suggestions it’s obviously colour blind.

What colour is this to you?

A frenchey green dark grey?
Something else?
Anyone got a similar colour in there home?

Thanks ☺️

It is good isn’t it! Now to try and translate that into reality but it seems doable 😅

Have a look on the farrow and ball website for their colour names, then look for colour matches with better quality paint manufacturers.

AnonSugar · 26/08/2026 14:26

What do you mean colour blind? ChatGPT always tells me which paint colour it is.

It’s showing me minty and light sagey greens which obviously this isn’t.

As in this is a warm tone green to me. Not a blue tone.

Farrow & Ball website is your friend here. That looks like French Grey to me

PragmaticIsh · 26/08/2026 14:54

Suggest also looking at washable rugs for a utility, although that isn't what you asked!

Yes! That’s what I first thought. It’s certainly a French grey to me.

But then I looked and French grey is actually very pale.
I colour matched with the photo and it’s coming up as Valspar Villa Olivia - but can’t find many pictures of that online.

Found similar paints -
Behr Peppergrass
Dulux Heritage drab
and Lick Green 19

You can tell I seriously overthink paint 😅 but we do not want to paint cabinets twice so it’s get it right first time or never.

It looks like French Grey to me, too. DS2 and DDIL have it in their hall/stairs/ landing, it’s certainly not pale.

sweetsadine · 26/08/2026 15:09

I've just picked a very similar colour for my living room so have been down the sage green tester rabbit hole lately!

Colours I found that look like your pic;
Craig and Rose Olive Laque
Fired Earth Verde Antique and Gin & Tonic
Little Greene Tracery 11 and Normandy Grey
Coat Next Tuesday

@colourmesho Looks similar to Dulux Heritage Drab

https://www.duluxheritage.co.uk/en/colours/1780067/dh-drab

The good thing about DH colours is they are exactly the colour of the paint charts, no surprises. Unlike F&B where the paint on the wall often looks completely different to the chart.

Looks like a mid sage (or possibly olive) green to me. The warm glow of the lighting in the second photo is making it more difficult to tell, but that's my guess.

TeddySpaghetti · 26/08/2026 15:47

I'm typing from my office which is colour drenched in French Grey. I dont think it is that light in reality. Trying to add some pics here to illustrate, just in case it's helpful

I’d prefer sage tones over grey. But the photo is ambiguous.

Papyrophile · 26/08/2026 16:18

I have that colour used on the wooden architraving around my loft hatch, and it's the darkest (or next to darkest) shade of a Dulux tonal card called Bleached Lichen.

Om83 · 26/08/2026 16:25

i think pompeian grey by little greene would be quite close it’s a green but definitely grey tones- https://www.littlegreene.com/pompeian-grey
the pics are of the same colour but changes in the light- it’s a really lovely colour.

Farrow and Ball’s Mouse’s Back? That can look lighter or darker depending on light levels. It’s a brown green grey.

Tomfooleries · 26/08/2026 16:39

Two questions, OP. What do you want it to be? Also, what aspect does the room have?

I’d used F and B French Grey before, and it was a warm grey with a definite warm undertone — then I used it in a north-facing room, and only noticed how different it looked when visitors said ‘I love your green kitchen’. Because I hadn’t intended to have a green kitchen.

I’m actually sitting in a sunny, west-facing room (several houses on) and I still have an old Windsor chair painted in French Grey from that era, and in this light it’s a warm grey.

So I suppose the question is whether you want to lean into the green or the grey.

MagicThanks · 26/08/2026 16:42

The curtain in front of the washing machine looks awful - needs to be proper cupboard doors imo.

Puddlesplasher · 26/08/2026 16:43

Little Greene’s Windmill Lane or Ambleside maybe?

dairydebris · 26/08/2026 17:00

I don't know exactly what that colour is but this is all futile imo. Paints look so different in different spots under different lights, on computer screens and in person. Surely you just now decide you want a warm olivey green and get a few testers?

For what it's worth, Farrow and Ball French Grey is one of my favorite paints ever, its a warm grey or a quite intensely green grey depending on many factors. It goes absolutely beautifully with rusty orange like your floor.

Erm - I think that’s a ‘before’ type of illustration or photo…
