Forest green sofa regret

I ordered the DFS enchanted corner sofa in forest green last night. It was a toss up between that, mustard or olive green. I’m usually neutral and cream led but I’ve gone rogue and now seriously questioning my decision. Does anyone have a green sofa? I’d like the room to stay bright so plan to keep the walls white and decorate neutral with splash of blush pink and yellow cushions and art work but now wondering if it’ll look garish. I now think olive green would suit the palette better and I’m talking myself into changing it (if that’s even possible!). First world problems I know!

I’d love a goose green sofa , I think it’s sounds fab

It sounds lovely with white walls but get the sofa in the room before choosing accessories. Pink may not work. Try draping a few clothes in different colours on the green to see what goes. Black and white might be terrific too .

omghereistrouble · Yesterday 09:59

that sort of green is a good choice. try various colours with it before buying accessories

Just googled it and it's gorgeous! I wanted a green velvet sofa when we bought a few years back, but I couldn't find one with enough support for my back, I envy you!

I'm green with envy :)

edited to include hilarious joke

I do! I have this and it is SO comfy. I love it. It was my husband's choice - I wanted to go with cream and, with kids and a dog, I am so glad we didn't.

A dark green sofa with white walls will be gorgeous, blush pink will be a great accent

My son and Dil have the same one and I love it. They’ve had it about 2 years now and it looks good as new. They have white walls and some mustard accessories and it looks lovely. It’s also comfy.

I have a green sofa ! John Lewis Harriet green I think it's called !
I have neutral walls from farrow and ball can't remember what's it's called now !!!
Black and gold accessories and some leopard print ! Looks minimal but cosy !

I like the sound of this colour, with dusty pink, creams, soft white it would look great. But if you are changing your mind, and you only ordered it last night call them straight away and change the colour.

Melarus · Yesterday 10:26

It sounds like a nice, calming colour. You might want to accessories with greyish cool tones rather than strong colours like yellow. I'd go for dusty pink, dove grey, maybe a muted peacock blue?

Do you think your doubts may be that fear when you've spent a lot of money? I often feel that. It's a lovely colour.

I would choose art work first, then rug or cushions etc.

hotchocinsummer · Yesterday 10:36

I’d love one.
the cat fur puts me off for me,my cat seems to spend his life on my boring grey sofa, but omg, totally a dream!

@Givemeallthewine8 Stepping out of your comfort zone of safe colours is very brave and why you are feeling like you are. I love LOVE your choice of colour and would have loved a sofa in the same shade but it only came in velvet and my dd can't bear velvet. I also love the sound of the accent colours you are planning.
I have gone for plain white walls to allow furnishings to be the colour, though the white I have is a bit too cool for my liking (it was just a way of brightening the place up when we moved in) and I want to get a more chalky white.
Enjoy your new sofa when it comes 💚

We’ve recently bought a moss green sofa from DFS and absolutely love it!!! We’ve had so many lovely comments about it!

If you have neutral walls your soft furnishings can be as many colours as you like. That makes for an interesting, vibrant, cosy room.

SabbatWheel · Yesterday 10:52

I prefer the Olive green, only because it has warmer yellow undertones rather than the cooler blue of the Forest green. I suppose it would depend on the room’s aspect and lighting. Forest would be ok in a lighter room for me, but would look gloomy in a dark room.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · Yesterday 10:53

Looking at the green, it’s quite deep emerald. I think you have to steer away from mustard tomes because it’s a blue undertone to the green. So pale pink, muted coral and blues with deeper greens would work. It’s a bit bright for me but it’s a statement colour.

That's gorgeous!
Is it comfortable, especially the low back?

RecyclingSal · Yesterday 10:58

@TheOtterly oh it is so comfortable, I would recommend it. We have the 4 seater and a 2 seater, and it is the best sofa we have had. We did have lazy boys before and decided to get this to replace them. I was a little apprehensive as it doesn't recline, but hands down we love it. It's a forgiving colour and fabric, especially with children and pets! I couldn't recommend this enough 🙂

These are mood boards from Designers Guild and show how you can use mint green, pinks, pale blue and white accents to have a fabulous scheme.

I have this one and love it - it's a very forgiving colour in terms of marks and pet hair!
If you have a bold sofa you can be really neutral with the rest of the decor without everything being bland.

Luckydog7 · Yesterday 11:06

It's a bold colour so you will want to balance it in the room with some other strong colours eg a rug. There's lots of colour options though. You could go very lux and combine with deep reds. You could go natural with lighter neutral cushions to tone down the boldness.

Personally not sure about pinks with that colour and I'd probably prefer mauve.

I would avoid anything with too much orange as it will end up looking 70s especially with the minimal style of the sofa.

ToadRage · Yesterday 11:12

We had a green sofa that we inherited from my in-laws. It went surprisingly well with the decor in the flat the we rented from my aunt and uncle their walls were a pale peachy orange with a green and orange border. We now have a blue sofa. We used to have blue walls but we recently redecorated keeping the blue furniture and mustard yellow curtains and cushions but the walls are a much more neutral gentle fawn.

DeftGoldHedgehog · Yesterday 11:22

I have navy blue sofas, dark green armchair, teal armchair, cushions are yellow, pink, green. Have a mauve wall (and also white) and curtains. I think they all go, or at least contrast interestingly! I don't have this rug or sofa but it gives you an idea of the colour palette together.

Oh it's a lovely sofa @Givemeallthewine8 We can't have a corner but it's a similar design to my Zoes from Dunelm.
