Last sold in 2006 for £50,000. Did I read that correctly?

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/08/2026 19:38

Yup.

We used to stay there years ago, in various flats and a cottage, the area is stunning

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/08/2026 00:18

I've been to the coffee shop there, many moons ago, when visiting my BIL who lives on the island (his is a 3 bed semi rather than a castle).

Well, I am in love @MrsMoastyToasty, and if I could win the really big Euro millions lottery in time to buy this place then I would love to buy it, especially in that location!

I would need to invest most of the rest of my big win in order to earn enough income annually to keep the castle and estate in tip top condition. That would also have to include keeping the Highland cows, and the black faced sheep, as 'pets', as I don't eat meat - for ethical reasons. I want to move there now, and I would love my Grandchildren to grow up there, and their parents would be welcome too, if they would like to come 😂

However, I am nearly 70, wheelchair bound, and the chances of me winning a large amount in any lottery are so rare that I very sadly think that my chances of such a win, particularly within such a relatively short time window of opportunity, is virtually nil. But I can still dream about it, and in about half of my dreams I am not disabled at all, so.....😉

I wonder how much the heating bills are 😂

stunning scenery, and nice to have poly tunnels to grow your own veg. Very ecofriendly, zero airmiles 👍

I do the Euromillions every week but only when it gets to over £50 million. So if I win @PlayingDevilsAdvocateisinteresting you're welcome to come to stay for free.

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/08/2026 08:12

@daisychain01 it's got a really low EPC rating so it's probably really drafty. I noticed it's on a private water supply (so probably a spring or borehole) and private sewerage (usually a septic tank).

@MrsMoastyToastyThat will be one hell of a septic tank for a castle! More like an underground reservoir! It’s too remote for me and it’s really priced as a business. Not easy to hop over and stay either. No air miles - but ferry miles! When they run of course!

Yes, the first cottage we stayed in, cnoc fuar, 35 plus years ago, had strange little clack creatures coming through the bath taps, till DH rigged up a sophisticated filter system /sock

Thank you @daisychain01, and if I win you are also very welcome! 😊

It's nothing if not intriguing and fascinating!

it must need numerous septic tanks to service all the bathrooms!

Monthly mortgage repayments ... ah, a snip at £42,041

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 12/08/2026 21:27

@daisychain01 That’s only the mortgage if you have not got the savings or sold your house in Chelsea!

catownerofthenorth · 12/08/2026 21:52

It’s a gorgeous spot but a bit remote

BaronessBomburst · 13/08/2026 17:30

There are standing stones! A mini Stonehenge. All three of them.
