Sadly, the opposite has happened to me! Bought a great house 10 years ago, House was 2 years old. Next door was owned by a retired man and his son. Newish, well looked after, clean and tidy.
Seven years ago, they sold and a new young family moved in. Now, the house and gardens are a disgrace. They use an outside porch as a store for their old furniture & plastic crates, the small garden is filled with a large, unused trampoline, rusty, full of leaves and all of the grass has gone from under and around. Owner says their 4 cats use it as a toilet.
The patio is coming up as weeds take over, fencing falling down as the climbers are overgrown. Empty pots, bags, pieces of wood, a broken plastic ‘greenhouse’ and shelving everywhere. It is just a tip.
Cobbled driveway is damaged by the weeds.
They still have painted rainbows on their windows (from COVID), paint pots on the window sills, from a bathroom refurb 4 years ago. Empty biscuit tins piled on sills block the windows.
I suppose, what I am saying, is there are never any guarantees! (And more chance that the house next door to the house the OP is considering, is sold).
