Anyone used Sharps or Hammonds for a media wall? Good and bad news please!

Anyone used either of these for a media wall? I’m prepared for the hard sell, very happy to walk away (and see if they come up with a final best price). Equally if their price is ridiculous will look into local carpenters but so hard to find someone that’s recommended, had one firm but their work is all media walls (the kind where there is v little storage just some shelves that are into the wall IYSWIM rather than bookcase type shelves, and built in fireplaces rather than cupboards under the TV). I’m after cupboards along the bottom, shelves to the sides, TV on the wall.

currently TV is on top of Ikea Besta units which are fine but they don’t match the room (came with us when we moved years ago) and they don’t go all the way across the space, but not enough room to fit one more in.

I did get quotes from one of these guys and they were expensive…I think maybe 10k?
we have two media walls and I’ll attached some not very good pics. I think both were about 4 to 5k using a local company. second one uses kitchen units and has so much storage.
just as a warning my user name was created after another thread about media walls and being told how chavvy it was 🙂

Just to add the first one with the fireplace also uses kitchen cupboards for the ones next to the fire. We have too much storage now 🤣

Plenty of you-tube videos about how to modify Ikea furniture to fit awkward spaces. My question is why do people mount their tv's so high on the wall, surely you want it at ( or slightly below) eye level when you're sat comfortably on the sofa.

Strange, isn't it, it must be uncomfortable to look up at the TV. The ones set above traditional fireplaces are the worst.

I think it depends how large the room are, ours are at a comfortable eye height. But not sure that was the OPs question

@Mediawallchav love the picture on the right, that’s sort of what I’m thinking. We do have bookcases on another wall that are off-white and pine, I was thinking maybe look at kitchen cupboards and a wooden worktop to echo that, with shelves up either side of the TV. Does the existence of books render a room less common?! Thought we’d moved on from times where a big tv was seen as a sign of no taste - do posh people really never watch, or if they do only on small screens?

regarding height I’m thinking of similar height to where the TV is at the moment, but with furniture build to fit the space rather than TV plonked on top of what we had. So at the moment the TV is probably about 80-100 cm off the floor at a guess, good height when on the sofa. Likely to stay around the same.

I’ll see how horrendous the prices are from Sharps/Hammonds and maybe use their ideas as a starting point.
