Upstairs Laundry Room

Has anyone put a laundry room upstairs? I have purchased a 5/6 bedroom house but the 6 is extremly small - could maybe fit a single bed and a rug. I was thinking of turning it into a laundry room and having a washing machine and dryer up here but I am concerned about any leaks that may happen.

Has anyone done this?

There is a school of thought in some European countries, that it is very unhygienic to have dirty clothing in a kitchen where there is food and food prep.

(a utility room solves this of course).

My friend has one. There are few thing that make me truly envious, but that room is one. It also has the bonus of having its own balcony bit above the garage where they have installed washing lines and airers so the laundry can be hung outside too.
