When you are applying for housing benefit, are you penalised for having too many rooms?

I think you would have to look on Entitled to to know for sure harman. My h works in social housing etc and so is often on the site looking to see updates on rules etc.

I think it's changed noe, in that the particular house isn't assessed.
It's called local housing allownce and your LA website should tell you how much you are allocated based on your situation.
They just give you what they deem to be the going rate for your requirement.

I don't know for definite but that is certainly my understanding of it, that so long as you are in your price band it's fine.

Shelter says that you can have a pre-tenancy determination done by the housing benefit department but not sure if that still applies if your council is part of the LHA scheme.
