En suite tiling advice

Thoughts appreciated, I am mocking up my new ensuite and need to finalise this week to get ordered

can I have opinions (preferably not that you hate both as that won’t help me) but whether I use a feature tile in the shower cubical or keep the whole room the same. Using good old chatgbt it has not edged it properly but if I did use a feature tile it would not go on the slanted ceiling and would end level with the shower screen

thoughts appreciated 🤩

In a small bathroom I think it works best to use the same tiles on all the walls including the shower cubicle.

thank you
It is not too small - the unit is 1250 wide . And the shower is 1600 long. We currently have a four piece suite and have decided to do away with the bath as it’s never used

I like it all the same

If you wanted 2 different tiles I think it would work better if the whole of the wall on the left was the feature tile and the whole of the wall with the sink was a plainer tile. That way you don’t have to try and make the threshold between the two look neat or make sense.

Sorry I meant that unless the shower cubicle is in a separate area in a large room, it works best to tile everything the same.

I think that’s my feeling too, if it was in a recess

My tiler advised me not to use small tiles in the shower from a cleaning perspective. So I'd go for the same throughout.

I'm not keen on the brass colour of the shower enclosure and fittings (but if you do that's fine!).

Whorulestheroost1 · 07/07/2026 09:46

I think it looks bland with the same tiles, deffo prefer the second one.

Hellohelga · 07/07/2026 09:47

The herringbone in the shower is lovely. I’d use that on all the walls. For me the other is too beige and similar to the floor.

Iwiicit · 07/07/2026 09:50

I think the green tiles look strange jutting onto the wall with the mirror. They will also be a pain to maintain and regrout.

yes they can be tricky to clean and I don’t particular like lots of cleaning

its actually brushed bronze and I do really like that. I had brushed brass previously and that seems to be everywhere now 😍

The other option is the have the whole of the facing wall tiled in the pale sage but it cannot be herringbone it would have to be portrait and walls are so off

I prefer keeping it to one tile. As a previous poster said, if the shower was in a recess then having a feature tile would work better. I’d keep the tiling simple and focus on textures. There are some similarities to my ensuite.

Shower board is one of the best decorating things we’ve done - so much easier to keep clean and nice looking… less grout the better

morden123 · 08/07/2026 20:26

I like the difference with the herringbone as to me it makes the room look wider, but I really like both shower rooms - beautiful
