I need to get a plumber in to remove a radiator and replace it with two smaller ones, placed on a different wall in the same room. The room also needs to be re plastered.

Which one do I do first?

Take old radiator off the wall, first fix the pipes for the new radiators so they stick out of the floor/ walls , plaster and paint, get plumber back to put the new radiators on.

This. Where’s the pipework going for the new radiators? Under the floor? Do you need to take the carpet up and lift floorboards?

I was hoping not to go through the gymnastics of it all. If I get a plumber in to do half the job, luck states I won't get a plasterer for six months.

Talk to a plumber or plumbing firm. They may have a plasterer mate and could arrange with them directly to mange the whole job as a one-stop shop. Look for a plumbing firm that does bathroom refurbishments rather than a specialist heating engineer.

It's a good time of year to do it - before summer holidays and the autumn boiler breaking season.

Definitely ask the plumber if they have a contact for plastering. It's not going to take you 6 months to get one room re-plastered!

I have had the worst luck trying to find people to do anything. The list of contacts on my phone of tradesmen who have ghosted me is over 20.

try to find a plumber that is like a company with loads of plumbers. You pay a bit more but they are much easier to schedule than one man bands who manage their diary on WhatsApp and where the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
