This crack is above a door (internal) it goes into the ceiling diagonally which I've read can be a sign or structual issues or the roof lifting :(

I am beyond terrified I haven't slept from worrying so much :(

Looks like it's just surface but monitor it over time to see if it widens.

If you're not precious about the wallpaper (if I'm not wrong that it's wallpaper?) Id pull it away and see how deep the crack goes underneath. Could just be surface/cosmetic. From that picture I don't think I'd be losing sleep.over it so try not to worry

What's above that room?

Miley89 · 14/06/2026 15:58

The attic is above

Have you checked that space? Any damage, water ingress, pooling, signs of mould above etc?

CornishPorsche · 14/06/2026 16:22

And has anything else changed? Decorating, removal or replacement of doors / windows, needing the heating on a lot more over the winter?
