Would you not bother moving?

Our house - smallish 3 bed semi is on a bus route. With heavier buses, the house reverberates when they go by.
I would like somewhere bigger, quieter but we do have the loveliest neighbours on all sides. We get on with everyone on our road. They have babysat, looked after our house while on holiday.
We sometimes socialise together. When I hear about some of the nightmare neighbour stories and I hear from friends about them, I wonder if it's too much of a risk to move.

Our neighbours are in their 60s and one in their 70s and not likely to move.

I am wondering what are your thoughts.

I wouldn’t stay just because you have nice neighbours if there’s also good reasons to move. My current neighbours are lovely too, and I’ve had bad neighbours but only once was it bad enough that I was relieved when I moved (it was not why I moved however). But while I’d be mindful about neighbours I’d hope that most people are congenial.

I have to persuade DH, to be fair still, to want to move

I would be worried like you about moving as we have nice neighbours too. I guess if you move to a bigger place in a quieter road you could see by looking around if people look after their houses and if so I would think you are mor3 likely to get considerate neighbours but they may not be so friendly.

That is a good point. My lovely friends moved a beautiful road - one of the most expensive in the area and neighbours have been incredibly horrid and unkind.

With the housing market as it is, I think on this occasion I would stay and benefit from the community around you for now. Save funds for a bigger deposit, or over pay on your mortgage and look to move in 3-5 years.

Bus route will be invaluable as the DC hit teenage years.
