Double charger for Oral B toothbrushes near bathroom sink worth it?

Bathroom refurb question. Toying with the idea of a double charger for our Oral B electric toothbrushes being positioned near our bathroom sink. It will be approximately 1.5m away from the toilet. Is it worth the money as I could just charge from the electric mirror and leave one cable permanently in situ? My thoughts are that it will keep two brushes from cluttering the sink area. Anyone recommend the charging unit they have if you think I should proceed? I think its about £80. Fitting is included in my price.

I just had one installed last week. Totally worth it and it sounds like you got a great price. Had visitors at the weekend and they also thought it was brilliant. I’m not particularly tidy but am delighted to get rid of the trailing leads. It replaced the shaver socket as we only ever used it to charge toothbrushes.

Do you mean the Oral B chargers with one prong sticking up from the middle? Because my new Oral B O-i brush has a different (flat) charging pad so don’t assume all new brushes going forward will fit any charger you have fixed to the wall.

@BillyBites That's a very good point, Excellent tip off thank you

If you have a cupboard or deep drawer, you could have it installed inside there, so the brushes are away whilst charging.

We have a mirrored medicine cabinet with the chargers inside. Much neater. Make sure there's is enough height to the shelf though.

Crumpetring · 01/06/2026 22:02

I wouldn’t. It would be very frustrating if it changed or you wanted to move to a different brand

Unicornorange · 01/06/2026 22:24

Yes yes yes - I had one installed in our niche that's next to the sink. Love it. No trailing wires, place for the toothbrush to live so it's always charged.

Have a shaver point installed as well as a fall back so you could still plug one in if you needed to. but if toothbrush charging convention ever changes dramatically then at least you already have the power there to change the fitting. I think the benefits definitely outweigh the 'what if toothbrush charging changes' (non)issue

Well, it’s not a “non-issue”
as they already have changed one version.

We just have one toothbrush between us, but our own heads, so we only have to have one charging point.

PigletJohn · 02/06/2026 11:06

I find the batteries last nearly two weeks between charges. So the charger doesn't even be next to the basin. The brush tells you when it wants charging, when it is not yet flat.

Papricat · 02/06/2026 12:13

I bite my tongue for not going for it.

Mum5net · 02/06/2026 12:17

I think these big brand companies have exclusive patents for a period of years which eventually lapse and then everyone else piles in. I'm very swayed by @mrslaviniachandelier and @Unicornorange and I don't think I'm overly put off by the change in tech that is undoubtedly coming.
I would however, prefer to have the charger well out the way of the wc. 1.5 m is the best I can do. maybe that's good enough as my bathroom isn't huge. There isn't scope for what @Rollercoaster1920 and @PragmaticIsh suggest. I will see if there are other electric options away from the basin @PigletJohn as there is underfloor heating in the mix and some sort of panel display to be housed somewhere. Maybe the display and the toothbrushes can go together? Now trying to fathom which unit. Thanks everyone!

We had these put into two bathrooms. Love them!

WildCherryBlossom · 02/06/2026 12:32

Oh and when one of DCs toothbrushes failed we just made sure we replaced it with one that uses the same charging system. Very easy. We have also hung onto the plug in chargers that came with our toothbrushes for holidays / DC going away to uni etc

We have shaver sockets too

MotherofPufflings · 02/06/2026 12:59

As someone else said, we have a shaver socket in the cupboard so just charge in there and then no issue if we change to a different type of charger. Also out of the way of the toilet. I can't remember ever needing to charge more than one toothbrush at a time.
