Reconfiguration to make fourth bedroom?

We are thinking of putting an offer on a house we’ve seen however ideally we’d like four bedrooms. The house has had a double side extension, creating three double bedroom and dressing room. Is there any way of using the current dressing room and large hallway to create a small fourth bedroom?

Could you take the bath out and just have a loo upstairs- use the additional space to enter the dressing room?

Unfortunately not as it’s the main bathroom. Maybe I could bring the bathroom down into the bedroom below- creating a door into the dressing room?

Would a loft extension be feasible? A nice big landing should mean you can do another flight of stairs up.

It looks relatively easy to move the wall between the bedroom and dressing room to the left, closing off the door in the process, so that it is abutting the window, then create a new doorway from the landing into that room. It'd be a slightly odd shape, but big enough for a single room I expect

I agree that’s the only possibly realistic option. Moving the bathroom in any way would be very difficult because of all the pipes.

but in any case, are you sure it would be worth doing? You might end up with for bedrooms but all very small, which may not work for anyone else.

What about something like this? You could have just a shower in the bathroom which might work even better. And I’d put a pocket door in the new bedroom (formerly the dressing room) to save space. And have a big linen or airing cupboard on the landing for towels etc.

I agree with this option, once ascertained that the wall to be moved is not load bearing.

I agree, the discussed option of moving dividing wall towards the window would be probably the best option for the space, and leave the bathroom as it is which is nice.

Hard to say how practical that would be without knowing more about the building period etc. though!

I guess that wall you want to move is the original exterior wall of the house though. So maybe load bearing
