Which sink?

We are finally having our kitchen done in a couple of months. We have ordered a white granite sink with bronze tap. It will be going on a wood effect worktop.
should we stick to white or change it to black? I have just seen a picture of a black sink with bronze tap and it looks lovely but not sure how a black sink will be for marking

I don’t have one, but from what I’ve read and heard, although black accessories look lovely, they’re a nightmare to keep clean. I think people who have them in bathrooms in particular, regret it. I can imagine that any drops of water would need cleaning off instantly. Especially if you’re in a hard water area.

I have had a black composite sink and draining board for over a year now. No marks/scratches and still love it

Stay with white, black doesn't look so good after a while and will look dated. If you choose anything but a chrome/ss tap the finish will come off. I know lots of people will think this is boring. That's fine if you want to change them after a few years.

I wouldn't personally recommend a "granite" sink. They are basically plastic/resin and will scratch, chip and crack. Stainless steel all the way, at least it can be bleached and polished if you need to. And a durable chrome plated tap.

Forgot to attach photo of our rubbish "granite" sink. I've given it a clean but the base is all chipped and scuffs with a big crack. I've had previous ones in white and blue (not my choice) and they all went the same way.

If you have to protect your sink with mats and wash it gently and dry with a soft cloth, I think there's no point. The sink is for washing things IN. It shouldn't need precious treatment itself.

Notme, thanks for the picture. We have had composite before and that was awful, never again.
I have read that granite are supposed to be scratch resistant and easy to clean etc. Will investigate further, we have time yet.

My friends had a black sink and it always always always looked grimy because of scale. It's not even like you can use a water softener for the kitchen sink. My parents had a white ceramic sink which looked nice but it was a risky business washing up glasses in it because it tended to break the glasses if they hit it. Overall my preference is stainless steel - less glamorous perhaps but definitely the most practical option to my mind. Scrubbable. Doesn't break stuff when it touches it. You can't chip it.

We have a schock black sink and it’s perfect. No staining whatsoever. Very easy to clean and keep clean.
