Spray foam insulation removal

My elderly mum got spray foam insulation a few years ago.
We only found out when she received a cold call about removal and adding another form of insulation.
She's now worried about roof damage and wants it removed.
Has anyone done this? How do I find a reputable company to rectify and not just charge ££££ possibly making it worse.

It would be best to remove as when she or you want to sell most lenders refuse a mortgage for properties with this. So you will accept a huge loss or have to deal with it.
its expensive. There are no quick fixes or cheap options here. Sorry.

I had to get this removed to sell my parents’ home. It cost £4200 so not cheap. I had a company called polar blast who had a look at it and said that there were no signs of condensation behind it but it had not been put up properly as there was no membrane behind it. It only took them a couple of days to scrape it out. I chose them because they did not seem to be linked to any of the firms who had put it up in the first place and were now acting as saviours by removing it and replacing it. Such a massive waste of money all round.

This dreadful stuff made my in-laws kitchen ceiling collapse.

They had (rather naively) bought a bungalow without having a survey.

After the ceiling collapse was the first time anybody looked in the loft and they ended up needing an entire new roof because of the damage caused by the foam.

I wonder if any firms have ever been held accountable for installation?

We have exactly this same issue with my mum’s house. Need to get it removed but down want more conmen who may do more damage. It’s such a waste of money that she doesn’t have.

There seems to be a huge lack of regulation in who can install this awful stuff.

bigpinkslippers - they will give you some paperwork including a short report on the state of the rafters. When we sold my parents’ house the buyer’s mortgage company needed this so keep it safe.

It's a national scandal imho.
Scroll to How has government responded.
"oh well not our fault problem" lots of that insulation was installed under the gov grant.
