Most hardwearing kitchen worktop options for awkward angles and splashbacks

We need to replace the kitchen worktop.

Our last home (abroad) had solid granite worktops, supplied and fitted by the local gravestone maker in the village. Granite was great, as it didn't scratch etc.

Here (UK), we have a small kitchen with awkward angles so I think we need something that "turns corners" more easily. Ideally I'd like it to also form a splashback and perhaps cover the windowsill (?).

What are the most hardwearing options that would suit a kitchen like this? I've tried Googling this, but there seem to be so many maaaaarvellous new materials available and I don't know how great they are in real life.

I’d still go for granite. We went to a huge warehouse where they had all the large slabs and you could choose the actual one you wanted. I love the one we got - darkish brown black with loads of chunky flecks of blue green shimmery labradorite in it.
edited to add - we have the splash back behind the cooker and the windowsill in the granite too.

Thank you! Excuse my ignorance, but who do you get to fit it in the UK???

It was ten years ago - we used a company called “granite solutions direct” but they don’t seem to exist any more. There are plenty more with similar sounding names!

The warehouse was this sort of place - there are quite a few around if you know what to search for.

As a geologist I was v happy to get to go and choose the actual slab!

Agree granite
ours goes round angles and complicated cut outs.
its 20 years old and a little chipped in places but its not noticeable/looks nicely aged
