How often do you vacuum under the bed?
just curious!

I changed from a bedstead to a divan so I couldn’t see the dust. I sometimes poke the hoover pipe underneath but not very often

Credittocress · 25/04/2026 11:49

Robot vacuum upstairs, runs under all the beds.

DoggieNamechange · 25/04/2026 11:50

Once a week. I have dust allergies and a wooden floor so I can see the piles accumulating and get the Shark out

Fatiguedwithlife · 25/04/2026 11:53

Every time I move house hahah. My room isn’t big enough to move the divan around.
under kids bed every time I hoover the floor

LoudPlumDog · 25/04/2026 11:55

The robot goes under the beds every day.

Pixiedust1234 · 25/04/2026 12:01

I can't access under the bed, not even to retrieve the styluses, hair bobbles, pens and mouse toys that seem to accumulate under it. It's also too heavy to push sideways even if there was room to push. Last time I did manage it was when I moved house and I was very surprised how little dust there was after 8 years. However I WAS surprised at how many things were under it.

OotontheRandan · 25/04/2026 13:29

Never. I don't want to disturb the dust bunnies/underbed monsters.

troppibambini6 · 25/04/2026 13:33

We have ottoman beds which weigh about 3 tonnes so never!

Shallotsaresmallonions · 25/04/2026 13:35

Never. There is no gap to hoover under and I can't move it myself.

Ditto the couch. That gets hoovered under maybe once every 6 months when I get DH to lift it.

C8H10N4O2 · 25/04/2026 16:43

This being MN, five times per day obviously 😅

Expectinglittlebean2026 · 25/04/2026 20:29

When we moved house 🤣 but there is only a very small gap. What I do do about twice a year is get the hairdryer to blow out any dust/dog hairs to the other side and then just hoover it up.

Kedgereeandvelvet · 25/04/2026 21:33

About once every three months I go through the huge task of lifting my enormous king size heavy mattress and divan base out of the teeny room which it fills, because I can smell dust down the sides when I’m in bed and can’t sleep. Last time I got in a fight with the mattress and somehow nearly catapulted myself over the upstairs landing bannister so I wouldn’t recommend it but I always sleep better when it’s done.

CoodleMoodle · 25/04/2026 21:51

Never, because it's a divan and the room is too small to shift it over.

We're moving house this week and it'll be the first time I've seen under it in nearly ten years! Quite interested to see what we'll find under there...

Penkie · 25/04/2026 21:53

Not very often.
I pulled several boxes out from under the bed recently and a load of fluff came out with them.

Pepperedpickles · 25/04/2026 22:00

Never. We have a divan and it’s too heavy to move.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 25/04/2026 22:02

Once a week. But wooden floors and it’s a metal frame so quick and easy to do, otherwise it would only be when either I moved house or changed the bed frame!

Yetone · 25/04/2026 22:32

Every 3 months. Mattresses should be turned every 3 months so that is when we move the beds. They are all divan. The most dust is at the head of the beds.

Yetone · 25/04/2026 22:32

2 person job.

Thank you all for replies. Seems like it’s a practical choice. Makes sense. Maybe divans keep the dust bunnies contained!

Six years and counting. Maybe later this year though if I'm lucky. We're supposed to be decorating the main bedroom later in the year, if the bed does get moved I'll get to see what new life forms are evolving there.

KeeleyJ · Yesterday 00:24

When the cat runs out of toys.

k1233 · Yesterday 00:25

Robovac trundles under there nicely 🙂 fits under an ensemble base, so can go very low

They also give bugs chance to breed. We got carpet beetles a few years back - they had a right party under DS1's ottoman bed.

Giraffehaver · Yesterday 00:39

Never. There's too much clutter under there

AppleDumplingWithCustard · Yesterday 02:04

Never. My bed is too heavy for me to move.
