Recommended walk in shower screens

We had our bathroom re-done 5 years ago.
We went with a quadrant shower cubicle with a sliding door.
I LOATHE it 😖
It's SO hard to clean, and I now wish I'd had panels instead of tiles in the shower area.
I've got someone coming out to give a quote but I wondered if any of you had any advice or tips if you've done similar?
Thanks

Have you got a water softner - that makes it much easier as very little limescale to deal with.

Interesting that so many other people are having problems with this type of shower.

I live in a very soft water area so limescale isn't an issue but brownish sludge gathers in between the screen and rails. I clean it every werk and there's only 2 of us but still a PITA.

I feel vindicated that others have found these a nightmare!
I hate it <said in a gollum voice>

I have a walk in shower, no doors, no hinges, no rails. It is an absolute joy to clean. Every last bit is accessible. There’s no moving parts to break. I had tiles rather than panels it is still a million times easier than cleaning a closed in shower cubicle.

Out of all the things I've done in our house, the water softener was the best decision, I would never live in a house in the SE without one.

@Dbank
Ok, I'm going to sound very foolish, what is it and are they easy to install?

A water softener is a box that is plumbed in to your incoming water supply that removes the limescale. (and a few other things)

It does it by collecting the limescale etc on resin beads that are automatically "re generated" i.e. flushed by a salt solution, usually run overnight.

Cost of machines with plumbing is around £450 to £1,500 depending on features and capacity etc. Our cost of salt is around £90 per year.

The water tastes much the same, but can have a slightly elevated sodium content in theory, but it's still around six times less than milk. Some people leave a "hard" tap for drinking, but I haven't bothered and certainly can't taste anything.

Our taps and shower screens rarely need cleaning, and never descaling.

Popular brands include BWT, Harveys and Ecowater.

You probably will need a plumber to fit it, and a suitable place to put it with power and access to a drain (which it needs for the regeneration process).

Get the largest shower tray you can fit. The most important thing about the shower tray is that it is TOTALLY NON SLIP, i.e. not with the occasional bubble.
