How to repair this melted paint patch

I bought myself a new desk at Christmas for £220. I love it, its great, and my son has just sprayed a bunch of spray-on plaster spray onto the top of it and melted the paint off 😐

To say im furious at myself for leaving the spray out is an understatement. Does anyone know how I can repair it??? Im not buying a new one.

I've just found this paint repairer on Amazon and wondering if anyone can recommend it, or something similar that they know works? I would say the desk is an off-white/light ivory colour.

What’s the desk made of under the paint? I am no expert but you’d need to clean the area first to remove any trace of the stuff that was sprayed on. I would think you then would need to remove the uneven bumps by sanding back, and then painting over the area. But it may depend on what the material underneath is and what kind of paint the paint is.

Is it actually a painted finish on your desk or a melamine/ laminate type finish?

You are going to have to sand that bit back, ending with a fine grit sandpaper, and re spray the whole desk. You will never get it to blend in to match exactly. You might have to spray and resand and re spray again a couple of times to get a good finish. I know I’d make a pigs ear of it, are there any up cyclers in your area? Some people are great at refinishing furniture and may be able to advise/help you out/do it for a fee.

I wouldn't use the product you linked. If you know what the surface is, look up how to repair it.
I'd cover it with a desk pad for now.

Be wary of anything when it comes to desks - my dinner burnt the surface of my laptop.

Yes, actually, maybe it’s an idea just to cover it up with a nice desk mat. I think any DIY attempts to fix the issue run the risk of looking conspicuous and not leaving a nice finish.

Is that the front edge of it?

I also think you'll have to carefully sand that area down until perfectly smooth and then re spray.

I wouldn't do anything using a brush. It just won't blend.

Thanks everyone. I think im just going to get a desk mat, as people have pointed out I think me sanding and painting it will just make an even bigger mess of it. Im devastated 😭 thanks for the suggestions

Could you claim on your contents insurance?
