Corner plot for semi

Hello
have only ever lived in terraces so looking for some opinions please.
Potential property is a semi corner property,

meets with neighbour on left hand side, has a side access gate on the front right of the house, fence wall on the right handside, and then another side gate at the end of the fence which leads into the garden.

thoughts? What should I know as someone who has never lived in a semi or a corner plot.

my main reservation is it feels so much more exposed.

Hedge or fence the front and side garden so people don't cut across.
Enjoy only hearing noise from one side..
Enjoy being able to bring bins, mowers, bikes, dogs etc around the side.

Corner plots tend to be more sought after because you tend to get more land. Semi than terrace means only one direct neighbour, and easy access to back garden.

Most people would jump at the chance of a corner plot semi rather than a terrace.

Loads more space on a corner plot. Less noise in a semi, only on one side. You can put locks on the gates. If you are worried about burglary remember that most thieves are opportunists, they spot an open ground floor window or bikes left outside so just make sure you are sensible.

Around here corner plots have weirdly shaped gardens and they are also much smaller. Side access is amazing, that’s a big plus but if the garden shape and size isn’t right I wouldn’t go for it. We discounted several houses because of that. If that’s not a thing for the house you are viewing then go for it. Living in a semi is great compared to a terrace.

Parking - has it got a drive/garage? Often not able to have a dropped kerb near a junction so often end up with garage/drive at the bottom of the garden accessed from the side. So lose garden space, and a bit of a pain with small kids/shopping)wet weather. If it has front access to the road that's great

Corner plots can be awkward if wanting to extend to the side. Councils aren't always happy with such proposals. So think about future requirements.

pros: tend to have more land (check back garden isnt small or odd shape). Potential to extend into extra space, poss larger drive / side access.
cons: sometimes teens can congregate around corners, make sure your front is anti “sit on wall” or cut across for lazy pedestrians.

Love a corner, but remember the roof might have a hip joint, and any future attic conversion might be impacted… maybe less room for dormer windows etc.
Just moved from a corner plot after 23 years to another corner.

We have an end terrace on a corner. I love it - it’s quieter than a terrace house, larger attic space and garden, we have parking at the back of the property, our house gets more daylight (side windows), better views from the windows, and (don’t tell anyone this) if we need it the bin lorry will take our wheelie bin from the front or the side of the house, and as they come on different days we get extra bin collections Grin

Corner plots are great if you want to extend as well.

I bought a large corner plot house and regretted it every day. It had enough garden for me to sell off a portion, with planning permission, but honestly I’d never buy on a corner again.
For some reason it was a magnet for eejit teenagers who would stuff their rubbish in the hedge, tip up bins, and throw stones at the windows. It was close to a train station, but something about it being on the corner made it an absolute target.
Maintaining and weeding down the pavement side of the plot was also a complete pain in the arse.

I would make sure that you have high fences or hedge. There is a semi on a corner plot on our road and seem to have a lot of litter blown into their garden.

Most of the corner plots on new estates are terrible. You have to maintain a bit of grass or garden that cannot be used. People parking besides your garden. Plus you are on a road junction, people braking, ticking over and pulling away right outside.

It does have a garage at the end of the garden, which is accessed from the side entrance.
