Does anyone have a painted wooden vanity unit in their bathroom?

I really like this Haddon one but with a counter top sink. The colour isn’t showing well. But it’s f&b french grey which would look really nice in my new shower room.

The wood is solid and guaranteed for ten years but I’m concerned as to how it will cope with the humidity that a daily used shower room brings. It’s the first time I’ve ever chosen a vanity unit and I’d welcome thoughts.

I think the crucial aspect is reducing the time humidity is hanging around, so I'd get a really good extractor fan, possibly the type that comes on with the light. I can't see a problem having a painted unit in a bathroom as long as there is decent ventilation/moisture extraction.

To quote PigletJohn:
"You must of course have effective extractor fans. The ones made by Soler & Palau (also sold under the Envirovent brand, sometimes cheaper) are very quiet and IMO the best you can get. I recommend timer fans that come on with the light switch and turn off automatically after a set time.
If you have steamy showers, an ordinary 100mm wall fan is insufficient. You can fit a ducted fan above the ceiling if you have an accessible loft. 250 cu.m/hr is suitable (cheap little fans fitted by builders are usually about 80 cu.m)"

We have a painted vanity unit and extractor which works fine. However tap has leaked which has caused issues with the back of the treated solid wood worktop, it may or may not need a new worktop 6 months in. Seeing if it dries out or can restore with sanding.

We made our own in the end from Marine ply, a lot cheaper.

We also made our own by painting a chest of drawers. The painted wood has held up fine but the wooden worktop is now water damaged from the sink and being a bit careless! Shower in same room hasn't affected it at all but as PP said having a good extractor fan and opening the window helps with keeping condensation down.
