Window shutters...worth it?

We currently have blinds2go roller blinds on all our windows and s few are looking a bit sad these days.
On holiday last year we stayed in a lovely house with window shutters and I loved the look of them and liked the way you can tilt the louvres bottom and top or both.
They are £££ though.
If you have them, are you happy/glad you had them fitted or are they a nightmare to clean?
Thanks

I’ve had shutters put in my last three homes. I love them! But I usually put them on the bottom half and have Roman blinds on the top. The bottom half then tends to be shut (with the slats open) during the day.
No problem to clean there a dusters specifically made for shutters.
I use Thomas Sanderson and bargain hard - even when they’ve exhausted the ‘if you sign today’, ‘managers special’, ‘end of year quota’ I ask for an additional 5-10% off and I always get it.

The Italian shutters are so practical.
Source the shutters you like best and fit them to a couple of windows on the sunny side of your home. Trial them.

We have them and I do really like them but I have found they seem to be a magnet for dead flies / wasps behind the frame. I think our mistake was having a unit infront of them which means I dont clean them as often as I should. 😳 So maybe think about room layout / cleaning habits as well.

Thank you!
I can see how flies and insects could get trapped, but we find that happens in the conservatory anyway

We have shutters and we love them. They are so nice to look at and very practical, also easy to clean. We have fitted them on all windows on the sunniest side of the house. They are a god send in the summer.

I had them in my last house, where some windows really benefited from the extra privacy. However, when closed (even with louvres open) they make the room a lot darker, and when you open them they take up a lot of room. Blinds and curtains just sit neatly against the wall but with shutters you essentially have big doors that you need to open to clean or let light in.

I had shutters just on the lower half of the windows, even then I noticed how much light I lost from the room. Because they were for privacy I never opened them fully apart from for cleaning. I think most people with shutters do the same - you just leave them closed and tweak the louvres. They do look really smart from inside and out, but I wouldn't use them again except very specifically where I want that extreme privacy. I miss light and being able to see out too much!

We have shutter blinds (had them in our previous house as well) and love them.
Particularly like having the top slats operate independently of the lower ones.
Matched with heavyweight, blackout curtains to soften the look and also because the shutter blinds on there own do not darken the room sufficiently (especially the bedrooms).
Cleaning the slats is no bother, you just need to also clean the void between the shutters and the glass.

We had bifold shutter blinds fitted in our previous house but in hindsight this was a mistake so we made sure that this time, each shutter can open/close individually. Means more framework but far better IMO.

My in laws had some fitted a while ago. I had to pretend to like they when they showed me ‘oooh lovely!’

In reality I wasn’t keen. They made the room feel darker and it felt claustrophobic not being able to see out properly.
