Kitchen planner / designer?

Has anyone used a low-cost kitchen planner / designer (as in a human)? I really want to redo our kitchen but can’t figure out what should go where (some complicating factors) and also colours etc. Normally I’m good at this stuff but stuck on this room!

I have seen some people on fiverr and wondered if anyone had used anyone from there and similar? I was thinking £100 or so for a video call and then some initial ideas, drawings etc…

thanks!

Just take your own measurements to a kitchen showroom.

We just used an independent kitchen showroom person. He did everything. Design planning installation. Wasn't £££ either.

Mumsnet often recommends Karen at Onedesign.

fivr can probably get you something.

or just post here.

Look for oneplan on Pinterest. She designed ours. Ex Mumsnetter. Did an amazing job. Gave us a parts list for our chosen supplier.

I think @parietalis talking about the same thing. [email protected]

For a start you could go to Wren and get them to do a plan, it’s free.

Sorry I didn’t get notifications of these replies

to those saying just go to a big kitchen shop the problem is I want someone to understand how I use the space, what I need to store and how I need to access it etc, and make suggestions on what I SHOULD do that would work best with the reality not just what I COULD do. Island size, orientation, what should be in/on it etc. As well as the aesthetics, colour schemes etc. My understanding is that Wren etc would just give you x cabinets in a row that fill that space etc.

thanks to those who have recommended specific services / people - will take a look!

I think you might need to pay a bit more than £100 for that level of service @gynaeissue. My DIL is an independent bathroom designer and charges around that for a straightforward design based on measurements, orientation colour preferences etc.
A higher level of consultation would be extra, although given the amount you are likely to spending, probably well worth it.

A decent kitchen designer at any company is going to give you what you are looking for. They don't just shove a few cabinets in a row. If you get the impression that's what they're doing then go elsewhere but that would be very unusual.

Put a plan of your room on here, and a list of what you’d like. I’ll bet mumsnetters can come up with good ideas!

We also used Karen from Oneplan after someone else on MN suggested her and eight years on my kitchen still sparks huge joy every day. She designed our dream layout and everything is in the perfect place. Highly recommend her!

Thanks - I have contacted her (thanks to others who have recommended her too!)

Which service did you use? I’m thinking the advice call type thing might work for us rather than a full blown design…

I found Wren really helpful. Def not just a case of just fitting everything in: asked how the room is used, what type of food we like to prep and cook, who uses the room, how often different appliances are used, whether we are tidy or messy, what our non-negotiables were, etc etc. Once a design was done, we put on a VR headset to look around the space from different places in the kitchen, then tweaked it until we got what worked for us.

We did go for the full design with 3D CAD slides etc, but only because we were buying a do-up and taking down walls etc, so we needed proper guidance.
