Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone could help regarding a council property problem, i live in a council house that is next to an alley way and have asked the council for a fence to be built for privacy, but they have said they dont do that now can anyone help to see if this is true my children are 9 and 6.
Thank you

Wen I worked for a social landlord, there was a requirement to mark the boundary of the property but this didn't have to be a fence. If the property was let with a fence we'd maintain it but otherwise we wouldn't have to put one in.

I work for a HA - we provide chain link fencing apart from a couple of privacy panels right near the house.
we do put wooden fences on our new estates though as chain link would look odd there.

Gardens including fences are your responsibility op x

im council too and they don’t take responsibility for fencing anymore so would have to be paid for yourself. I did actually get some in a previous house but I was getting antisocial behaviour from next door cutting across my drive but had to have crime reference numbers, for privacy reasons I don’t think they’d pay, it should be in your tenancy agreement

I work for a council and boundaries are a tenant responsibility. There is no obligation for boundaries to be marked with a fence.

Can't you just get it done. I did in a HA. When we moved in they just had a waist height wire fence in between gardens. First thing we did.
