A Ii dental damage by tradesman

Had 2 tradies to do some work in my kitchen. They have damaged a kitchen cupboard door. Admittedly the kitchen is 15 years old but in good nick and have no intention of replacing it. They were very dismissive, although they admitted the ‘accident’ (their words) they didn’t seem too bothered about fixing it (door is marked and cannot be repaired will need replacing) should I be insistent on them sorting it? They haven’t come back to me to say they are trying to sort it out, which I am really not impressed with!

Your thoughts please..

Thread title should be accidental damage!

You can ask them to fix it, but I doubt you’ll have any joy. When I had French windows put in, they chipped one of the floor tiles - not a word said, and nothing to be done about it. Sadly, these days it seems to be just the way it is.

We had an electrician out who accidentally destroyed a brand new radiator cover. He was mortified and didn’t charge us for the call out.

Sadly this seems the norm for trades. It is one advantage of going through a larger company - there is an escalation / customer service route.
In theory they are liable for any damage and should have insurance.
