Anyone built a large Dunster House workshop themselves?

We’re getting a 6x3m cabin from Dunster House which will basically arrive as a pile of planks and fittings! (It’s the “EvilGenius” which is basically two 3x3 m units together). DH is convinced that he and a couple of friends can assemble it themselves over a long weekend, I’m slightly nervous! Are they really simple for a basic but competent enough DIYer to erect? There is an existing concrete base from a previous workshop to put it on, it’s not going on bare earth or grass. Thank you!

My 75 year old husband did one on his own. The only assistance he needed was to get the doors on, which was a bugger to do with two of us!

SInce he is the one doing it, let him crack on.

He will either succeed or fail and it sounds like you have bought the thing anyway.

Yes my husband did a 4x3m one on his own. It did take a little while but it was fairly straightforward.

My DH has done a play frame and a shed from dunster. Both he did on his own. If your DH has mates who can help steady bits and lift then he will be fine.

@GasPanicwe have bought it as it’s the right size etc, it’s just whether we get a handyman in or if it genuinely is DIY-able.

We got someone in! Took them 2 1/2 days as a team of 2 experienced guys. Very pleased with it, in fact I’m sitting in it now (used as summerhouse)!

We've just had a 4mx5m insulated Severn cabin delivered, but we are paying someone to assemble it (about £900). Normally I'd be happy to have a go but DD is 3 weeks old so thought it was a bit ambitious at the moment Grin
It will be a home office for DH.

I don't know that brand, but the ones I have seen are in pieces sized that two people (one at each end) can carry them and lift into place.

It would be much harder with fewer.

The roof may need four.

I can carry a 5-metre beam but it would be very hard to place it.

Myself and my friend put together a 5 x 4 m cabin. It was pretty simple and the build is really quick so you see results in no time.

You need to read a few more reviews to get a balanced picture.

What caught my eye was the buyer complaint the deliveryman would not carry it through his garden gate and out of sight.

It it normal for such building materials to be delivered kerbside, and it is the buyers responsibility to carry them in. This is usually specified on the order form and delivery note. In this case it sounds like they were offloaded onto the customer's drive, which is possible if the truck can pull off the road, or if the driver makes an extra effort.

Ah, here it is:

"How is this product delivered?
On the day of delivery, your goods will be delivered in panels and individual parts to the first point of contact at the front of your property e.g your driveway. This must be within 20m from the delivery vehicle (safely parked at the kerbside), to allow the driver to transport the goods from the lorry to your property."

They are usually hoisted off the truck in bundles, with a small crane.
