House hunting help, starting a new life…

DH,the kids and I are looking to start a new life…eek!

We’re renting in a new area we like, (200 miles from our old home!) and taking time to suss out schools and areas.

Can anyone share your best property search tips?

Our current method is checking Rightmove mainly, then the occasional visit to Zoopla and Onthemarket.

What else should we be doing to find a perfect property?

Market seems a bit slow at the moment, there isn’t much new stuff around.

We have about 600k to find a period property with a large garden, which is a tall order here! But we’re not afraid of renovation.

should we be checking purple bricks or forge sites? Registering with agents?

any advice welcomed, thank you!🙏

would register with any agents - also often worth asking on local facebook groups

you say Period Home. There is a Facebook group: Your old house UK | for sale. Also, Inigo are the national agent with a focus on this too.

you could also consult /engage a buyers agent.

Make a list of all your requirements. Then mark them as mandatory, nice to have or not that important.

Load the Area360 add-in for RM (google it) so that you can quickly eliminate problematic properties.
