Soundproofing in a new build

Has anyone moved into an attached new build house or bungalow and found they could hear noise from the attached property?

Our friends live in a NB townhouse and say they can hear nothing significant.
They and their neighbours both have dogs but both say the barking is not an issue. Daughter lives on the top floor and plays music rather loud but again, the neighbour says it is not an issue (we vaguely know the neighbour so have spoken to both sides).
I know the party wall is masonry as our friends DH is in the trade and wanted to be as certain as possible that noise transfer was not going to be an issue.

A work colleague lived in a TW townhouse and said noise was awful and when the neighbour went out & slammed the front door, the party wall shook!
That house was timber framed, they moved and said never again!

Yes but very rarely.

It varies so much on how the houses are constructed and how much noise people make.

Can I ask if you have pictures up on your walls yet? When we moved out of our old house, the difference in noise was quite considerable when we took pictures off the wall (mainly the canvas style ones).

You can even get acoustic wall art as well, which might help.

I also found this video really interesting, I wonder if improving the insulation of your own flooring would help noise travelling to your property from next door;
